Smart Film Care and Maintenance

1. Cleaning & Surface Care

Do’s:

✔ Use a soft microfiber cloth (lint-free) to avoid scratches.
✔ Use mild cleaners like:

  • Diluted isopropyl alcohol (50% water, 50% alcohol).
  • Glass cleaner (ammonia-free).
✔ Gently wipe in one direction (circular motions may leave streaks).
✔ Clean power switches/controllers with a dry cloth.

Don’ts:

❌ Avoid abrasive materials (paper towels, rough sponges).
❌ Never use ammonia, bleach, or acidic cleaners (can damage the film/coating).
❌ Don’t spray liquid directly on the glass—apply to the cloth first.

2. Electrical & System Maintenance

✅ Check wiring connections periodically (loose wires can cause flickering).
✅ Test the switch/remote – Replace batteries if unresponsive.
✅ Avoid voltage fluctuations – Use a stable power supply (surge protector recommended).
✅ Reset if malfunctioning – Turn off power for 10 sec, then restart.

3. Protecting the Film/Glass from Damage

✔ Avoid sharp objects (keys, knives) near the surface.
✔ Don’t peel or scratch the film edges (can cause delamination).
✔ Keep away from extreme heat sources (e.g., direct sunlight + heaters may warp adhesive).
✔ For outdoor installations – Ensure proper sealing to prevent moisture ingress.

4. Long-Term Care Tips

🔹 Inspect annually for:

  • Peeling edges (if adhesive film).
  • Discoloration (UV damage).
  • Electrical issues (flickering, slow response).
🔹 Reapply adhesive (if using static-cling film) if it starts loosening.
🔹 Update smart controls (firmware updates for app/voice-controlled systems).

5. Troubleshooting Common Issues

IssuePossible CauseSolution

6. Professional Maintenance

  • For large installations (office partitions, storefronts), schedule yearly professional inspections.
  • Warranty claims – If under warranty, contact the supplier for repairs.

Summary: Best Practices

  1. Clean gently (microfiber + mild cleaner).
  2. Protect from scratches & extreme heat.
  3. Check electrical connections regularly.
  4. Fix minor issues early to avoid costly repairs.

Always power the film off when cleaning and do not power on until 100% dry. Be careful not to disturb any electrical connections.  The best cleaner is a simple solution of water and a small amount of streak free detergent soap . Clean the window and then squeegee dry with overlapping strokes.  You may also clean the film surface with any normal strength glass cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a lint free yellow micro fiber cloth. poly vinyl surface is durable however if you could avoid harsh paper towels it would prevent light scratches and hazing over time. Products with ammonia will not damage the film if used in reasonable quantities. Do not use any abrasive cleaners, industrial strength glass cleaners and/or any other window cleaning tools that may scratch the window film.Remember, the surface of the film is  scratch resistant not scratch proof.

Please note: Check all material prior to installation for any defects.  Test each piece of material easily by powering on for clear and powered off for opaque. All or any physical defects or damage is to be reported prior to installation and removal of the protective coating that is on both sides of the material. If your shipping container is punctured or crushed do not accept delivery.
